I'm so happy you are here!
I’m Kelli! Welcome to my little space on the internet all about making pie and pastry. I’m the creator of Everyday Pie and the woman behind all of the recipes, writing, and photographs on this site. I'm also a mom to two children, Lilia and Joaquin, currently 9 and 10, and wife to John.
About the Baker Behind Everyday Pie
I fell hard and fast in love with food during my junior year studying communications at Emerson College. Since graduating, I've spent my entire career in the professional food world. I attended culinary school at Boston University, where I'm currently working on my graduate degree in Gastronomy. After many years honing my skills as both a cook and a baker in Boston area restaurants and bakeries, I left to start my family. Once the overwhelm of new motherhood subsided, I had a short stint running my own micro-bakery, and I transitioned to work in recipe development. In 2018 I created Everyday Pie, and it has been a complete joy over the last couple of years to watch this space grow and evolve.
I started this website out of sheer passion. Despite what changes have come my way over the last 15 or so years, one thing has stayed consistent in my life: my connection and love for baking, pies in particular, but more broadly, my unwavering need to be connected to food and cooking.
In 2021, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as a rare genetic disorder that predisposes me to future cancers. For obvious reasons, this was a big moment in my life and it changed many priorities for me. But of course, the one thing that hasn’t changed is the love I have for developing recipes and sharing my love of food with others. So, when I left my full-time job as a food editor during my cancer treatment, I knew that it was time to build something new, dedicated to sharing something deeply important to me: the meals I cook in my own home to feed and nourish my family. It was then that my second website, Everyday Family Eats, was created.
About Everyday Pie
Everyday Pie is a site dedicated to sharing recipes for pies, pastry and beyond! On Everyday Pie you can find recipes for:
- Pies that are easy and can be made for a special weeknight dinner treat (like Nutella Pie with Potato Chip Crust or No-Bake Cannoli Pie).
- Pies that are more complex and take multiple steps, and sometimes multiple days to make, but are so out-of-this-world delicious that the end result is worth the means (think: Lemon Meringue Pie or Mississippi Mud Pie).
- Pies that are meant for dinner (hello: Chicken Pot Pie, Caramelized Onion Quiche and Zucchini Pie with Goat Cheese.)
- All the holiday pies!
- Recipes that teach you the basics of pie such as How to Make a Butter Crust by hand, in a stand mixer or in a food processor. Or how to use an egg wash or make a lattice.
- Baking bucket list recipes such as How to Make Croissants, Puff Pastry or Choux Pastry. As well as easier versions of the classics, such as Easy-ish Croissants or Rough Puff Pastry.
- And ice cream! Because ice cream + pie are a match made in heaven. Like this Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Cinnamon Ice Cream or Peach Ice Cream.
But Everyday Pie is more than that as well. You'll find essential cooking recipes, like how to make caramelized onions or the perfect whipped cream that are directly related to pie, but also recipes that will improve your cooking skills and hopefully make you just as passionate about cooking as I am.
If you are just here for the recipe--that's fine. You can click the "jump to recipe button" that is always available or scroll down to the bottom. But the space in between is where I share all my secrets for truly mastering the recipe, and avoiding any pitfalls.
Thank you for reading all about Everyday Pie
