gluten free chocolate cookie pie crust in pie dish

This Gluten Free Chocolate Cookie Pie Crust taste just like an oreo crust but has no actual oreo cookies in it. Sounds like witchcraft, but trust me on this. Instead of cookies, it's made with almond flour and two different types of cocoa powder that make it taste just like an Oreo cookie. I like to call it my Faux-reo Pie Crust. It's so simple to throw together, with real ingredients and tastes incredible. It's perfect for a no bake pie crust option.

This Gluten Free Chocolate Cookie Pie Crust is made with only 6 ingredients. This no bake gluten free pie crust taste just like an Oreo cookie crust but is made by using almond flour instead. The secret to make it taste like an Oreo is the use of two different types of cocoa powder.  Using regular cocoa powder and black cocoa powder transforms this ordinary gluten free chocolate cookie crust into a FAUX-reo crust, made with ingredients you can actually pronounce. It's worth buying the black cocoa powder, trust me.

Why a Faux Oreo Crust and not just an Oreo crust?

Well, you can make a traditional oreo crust if you want! Check out this post. But here is why you should make this faux-reo crust instead: it tastes just as amazing as an oreo cookie crust, but made with a few easy ingredients and NOTHING artificial. Whenever possible, baking with ingredients that are whole and are things you can pronounce will undoubtedly produce something incredible. This faux-reo crust is no exception and is a unique take on a gluten free chocolate cookie crust.

    Ingredients Needed

    • Almond Flour
    • Cocoa
    • Black Cocoa
    • Butter
    • Granulated Sugar
Pouring melted butter into dry ingredients

    How to Make it

This pie crust couldn't be easier! All you need to do is:

    1. Melt the butter.
    2. Combine all ingredients together in a bowl, or to make it even easier, put them inside of the bowl or pot you used to melt the butter.
    3. Pour the mixture into a 9" pie plate and start pressing the ingredients up the sides of the pie plate to form the edges first. Once the edges are formed, work the crumbs down to evenly distribute into the bottom of the pie plate and pack it down into an even layer.
    4. No need to bake this crust. Simply freeze for 30 minutes before using for your favorite no-bake pie filling!

    • Peanut Butter Pie
    • Nutella Pie with Potato Chip Crust
    • Chocolate Cream Pie

This is a wonderful tasting gf crust! No one could even tell it was gf! Definitely a hit and I will make again. I actually baked it because I wanted to make it crunchier. 350 for maybe 15 mins keep a close watch on it so it doesn't burn on the edges. Absolutely fabulous with peanut butter filling!

Can I use this for a berry curd that will be baked for 15 min?

Will this crust work in a removable bottom tart pan, or will it fall apart when it’s taken out? I would like to use it for a gluten free crust in a caramel tart.

Hi Kelli! Can this be used instead of the regular Oreo crust in your Mississippi Mud Pie? Do you have any recommendations for the baking steps in that recipe?

I believe it can, but I can't say for sure. I would follow the instructions for baking in the Mississippi Mud Pie post. If you do it, let me know how it goes!

Can this crust still be baked, as in a traditional baked cheesecake? Will it not hold up to the heat of baking, is that why you say to freeze and use no-bake recipes?

I haven't tried it in a cheesecake, but my best-educated guess would be that it should work out! If you try it, let me know how it goes! -Kelli

Salt is listed in the first part of the recipe, but further on it is not listed with any amount. We didn’t add any salt. I hope it turns out okay.

Oh yes, that was an error. No salt in the actual recipe. I've updated it!

The only oil that would work is coconut oil--since it hardens when chilled!

This looks awesome. It also is cheaper than using GF Oreos which are pricey!

This looks great! Can you make this with Gluten Free All Purposes 1:1 flour? We have a severe nut allergy in our family.

Hello! This recipe is pretty specific to almond flour. However I have a chocolate pie crust recipe that I often will sub in 1-1 gluten-free flour for it and it works great! Here is the link: https://everydaypie.com/chocolate-pie-pastry/
