Honey Walnut Pie

This Honey Walnut Pie starts with perfectly toasted walnuts, combined with a creamed butter and honey mixture, then baked inside a buttery flaky crust.

PREP TIME: 25 mins

- butter pie crust - walnuts - honey - unsalted butter - light brown sugar - flour - eggs - vanilla - salt

COOK TIME: 45 mins

Roll out prepared pie dough and place in a pie tin. Crimp crust as desired and let it chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.

MAKE PIE CRUST

Place walnuts on a rimmed baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5 minutes, or until walnuts start to get fragrant.

TOAST THE WALNUTS

Cream together butter, salt, flour, and sugar in an electric mixer. Add eggs, honey and vanilla while beating the mixture on low.

PREPARE THE FILLING

Beat on medium speed until the mixture has slightly increased in volume, about 3 minutes. Then fold in walnuts.

FOLD IN WALNUTS

Pour the filling into the pie crust. Sprinkle walnuts on top & brush crust with egg wash. Bake on the lowest rack at 400ºF for 20 minutes.

ASSEMBLE

Then lower the heat to 350º and continue to bake for around 25 minutes. Let cool for at least 4 hours then serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
